Protecting Pipelines & Right-of-Way Near Your School

You can protect pipelines near your school by assuring that school personnel or contractors call 811 or your local One-Call center at least 48 hours before digging or excavating on school property.

Explorer utilizes one-call notification systems in each of the states where it operates. In addition, you must report any scrapes or dents that occur during excavation so that the damage can be inspected and repaired if needed to prevent future leaks or serious accidents.

The right-of-way is the land above and approximately 25 feet on either side of the pipeline. Schools along the right-of-way are prohibited from building or planting in the right-of-way.

Explorer regularly conducts maintenance to trim trees and remove shrubs or structures that are located in the right-of-way or prohibit the company from clearly viewing the pipeline corridor during aerial or foot patrols.
